How does an automotive scrapyard operate?
Automotive scrapyards, also known as salvage yards, are facilities where end-of-life vehicles are processed. Once a vehicle is deemed irreparable or past its useful life, it is sent to a scrapyard. There, the vehicle is usually disassembled to salvage any parts that can be sold or reused. Usable parts are cleaned, tested, and cataloged for resale. Hazardous materials, such as oil, batteries, and refrigerants, are carefully extracted and disposed of according to environmental regulations. Finally, the remaining vehicle structure, composed mainly of metal, is crushed and recycled.
