How does Aluminum Recycling work?
Aluminum recycling begins with the collection of aluminum products, such as cans, from recycling bins. These products are then transported to recycling facilities, where they are sorted and cleaned to remove any impurities. Next, the clean aluminum is shredded into small pieces to facilitate the melting process. The shredded aluminum is then melted in a furnace at high temperatures to produce molten aluminum. This molten aluminum is poured into molds to form new products or cast into small blocks called ingots. These ingots are then processed into new aluminum products, completing the recycling loop. This efficient process helps conserve natural resources and reduces energy consumption, as recycling aluminum uses only 5% of the energy required to produce new aluminum from raw materials.
