Auto Scrapyard Operations
How does an Automotive Scrapyard work?
Automotive scrapyards, also known as salvage yards, purchase old, unusable, or wrecked vehicles for the purpose of recycling or reselling parts. The process typically begins with the acquisition of vehicles either through direct purchase, auctions, or customer drop-offs. Once a vehicle is received, it goes through an initial inspection to determine its condition and the usable parts it may contain. The fluids such as oil, gasoline, and antifreeze are drained and disposed of or recycled according to environmental regulations. Any hazardous materials, including batteries and airbags, are also professionally removed. Parts that are in good condition are dismantled, cleaned, and cataloged for resale. The remaining vehicle skeleton, which is stripped of valuable components, is then crushed and sold to metal recycling facilities. Throughout this process, automotive scrapyards comply with environmental standards and regulations to ensure that the recycling of vehicles is conducted safely and responsibly.
