How does an Automotive Scrapyard work?
An automotive scrapyard operates as a recycling center where end-of-life vehicles are dismantled, and their parts are salvaged, recycled, or sold. The process begins when a vehicle, often deemed unrepairable or unroadworthy, is towed to the scrapyard. Once there, hazardous fluids and materials are safely removed and disposed of according to environmental regulations. Usable parts, such as engines, transmissions, and body panels, are carefully removed, inspected, and either stored for resale or sold directly to consumers and repair shops. The remaining vehicle shell, primarily composed of metal, is then crushed and sent to metal recycling facilities. This entire process supports sustainable practices by reducing waste and promoting the reuse of automotive components.
