How does Metal Recycling work?
Metal recycling involves collecting scrap metal from various sources and then processing it to make new products. The process typically starts with the collection of metals from items like old vehicles, appliances, and construction materials. This collected metal is then transported to a recycling facility where it is sorted by type, as different metals have different recycling processes. Once sorted, the metals are cleaned to remove impurities and contaminants before being shredded into smaller pieces to facilitate further processing.
After shredding, the metal pieces are melted in a furnace tailored for the specific metal type. This molten metal is then purified, with extra attention given to removing any remaining impurities. The purified metal is then poured into molds or cast into specified shapes to create new raw metal materials that can be used in manufacturing. These newly recycled metals are then distributed to manufacturers, allowing them to produce new metal products, thus completing the recycling loop. This process not only conserves natural resources but also saves energy and reduces the environmental impacts associated with mining and raw metal production.
