Catalytic Converters FAQ
How does Catalytic Converters work?
Catalytic converters work by converting harmful emissions from an internal combustion engine into less harmful substances before they exit the vehicle’s exhaust system. This is achieved using catalysts, typically made from precious metals like platinum, palladium, and rhodium, which facilitate chemical reactions to break down pollutants such as carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxides, and hydrocarbons into benign compounds like carbon dioxide, nitrogen, and water vapor. The process effectively reduces the environmental impact of vehicle emissions and helps meet regulatory standards.
