Frequently Asked Questions
How does Catalytic Converters work?
Catalytic converters function by using catalysts, typically made from platinum, palladium, and rhodium, to induce a chemical reaction that converts harmful exhaust gases from an internal combustion engine into less harmful emissions. When exhaust gases pass through the catalytic converter, the catalysts trigger a redox reaction, where oxidation and reduction processes transform pollutants into nitrogen gas, carbon dioxide, and water vapor. This significantly reduces the vehicle’s environmental impact by controlling emissions of harmful substances like hydrocarbons, carbon monoxide, and nitrogen oxides.
