How does Catalytic Converters work?
Catalytic converters work by facilitating a chemical reaction that converts toxic gases and pollutants produced by an internal combustion engine into less harmful emissions. The device contains a core of ceramic or metal substrate coated with a catalyst, typically made from platinum, palladium, and rhodium. The exhaust gases pass through this substrate, where the catalysts promote the conversion of carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons, and nitrogen oxides into carbon dioxide, water vapor, and nitrogen. This process reduces the harmful emissions released into the atmosphere, thus helping in controlling environmental pollution.
