Automotive Scrapyard FAQ
How does an automotive scrapyard work?
An automotive scrapyard, also known as a junkyard, operates by acquiring vehicles that are no longer roadworthy or economically viable to repair. These vehicles are carefully assessed for usable parts, which are stripped and made available for resale. Reusable components, such as engines, transmissions, and body panels, are cataloged and stored for potential buyers. Non-recyclable materials and fluids are safely disposed of following environmental regulations. The remaining vehicle carcass is then crushed and recycled as scrap metal. This process not only provides affordable parts for consumers but also promotes environmental sustainability by reducing waste and conserving resources.
