Automotive Scrapyard FAQs
How does an automotive scrapyard work?
An automotive scrapyard, also known as a salvage yard or junkyard, is a facility where end-of-life vehicles are processed for parts, recycling, or disposal. Initially, the vehicles are inspected, and reusable parts are removed and sold. These parts can include engines, transmissions, doors, and more. Unusable components are then separated for recycling purposes, such as metal, plastic, and glass materials. Any hazardous materials, like oils, antifreeze, or batteries, are disposed of in an environmentally responsible manner. The remaining vehicle structure is eventually crushed and sent to a metal recycling facility, ensuring minimal waste and promoting sustainability.
