How does an automotive scrapyard work?
An automotive scrapyard is a facility where old, wrecked, or otherwise inoperable vehicles are dismantled. Parts that can still be used are extracted, cleaned, and sold as used auto parts. The remaining metal and materials are then recycled. The process begins with the assessment of the vehicle upon arrival to determine which parts are salvageable. These parts are carefully removed, tested for functionality, stored, and recorded in an inventory system. Vehicles are usually stripped of fluids and any hazardous materials to ensure environmentally safe operations. Once the vehicle is fully dismantled, the remains are crushed and sent to a recycling facility.
