Automotive Scrapyard FAQ
How does an Automotive Scrapyard work?
An automotive scrapyard operates by acquiring end-of-life vehicles and dismantling them to recover reusable parts and materials. Once a vehicle arrives at the scrapyard, it undergoes an assessment to identify components that can be salvaged and sold as used parts. Fluids and hazardous materials are safely removed for recycling or disposal. Usable parts are cataloged, stored, and made available for purchase to consumers or repair shops. The remaining vehicle shell is usually crushed and sent to a metal recycling facility.
