Automotive Scrapyard Operations
How does an automotive scrapyard work?
An automotive scrapyard, also known as a salvage yard or junkyard, works by collecting discarded or worn-out vehicles and dismantling them for usable parts and materials. The process typically begins with vehicles being brought to the scrapyard. Upon arrival, the vehicles undergo an assessment to determine the value of their components. Parts that are still in good condition are removed, cleaned, and stored for resale. The fluids and hazardous materials are safely extracted for disposal or recycling. Once all valuable components have been removed, the remaining metal frame is crushed and sent for recycling, reducing environmental impact. This operation helps in the conservation of resources and provides affordable used parts for consumers.
